15 March 2016: Second Day Part 3: Zoo and Dinner with Sean and Mike Hice

After work I went to the National Zoo with my friends. It was a ton of fun! We went to dinner at the Mad Hatter afterwards.

Look at this adorable little fanged creature.

This thing was horrifying.  It was an alligator snapping turtle.

The lions were awesome this trip.

They even made a ton of noise!

A Mike Hice!

As I attempted to take a selfie, Sean creeped into the picture.

After the zoo we went to Dupont Circle and checked out the fountain there.

Finally, we went to dinner at the Mad Hatter.  It was pretty tasty!

15 March 2016: Second Day Part 2: Tour of the Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology

We got a special, behind the scenes tour of the Dibner Library of the History of Science and Technology.  It was so cool! We saw some of the oldest books I have ever seen.  One dated back to 1280! It was handwritten and beautiful.

Some important old book that I know nothing about

Little tiny books!

Apparently they used to destroy Medieval manuscripts in order to bind other books.  This was part of a Medieval music book.

This math book was a pop up book! It was awesome.

This is my favourite one! It was from 1280 and was handwritten.

It even had an index of sorts! The “index” was in the front.

Then outside of the library we toured there was a scifi type exhibit.  I had to check it out!

14 March 2016: First Day of the Internship

My first day was great! My supervisor is fantastic and really chill. The work I’m doing is interesting.  I am updating the Art & Artist Files for the Book Art.  I will eventually take more pictures dealing with all that.

But first, before I went to the internship, I just explored.

Expect a LOT of architecture photos.

After my first day of the internship, I explored Chinatown, which is just a couple blocks away from the Victor Building (where I go for my internship).
